Chris Sledge Obituary, Death – Houston, Georgia Man Remembered for His Love of Family, Friends and Simple Joys

Christopher Lynn Sledge, affectionately known as Chris, of Houston, Georgia, passed away peacefully at the age of 61 following a courageous battle with illness. His death was announced in an obituary published September 11, 2026.

Born June 4, 1965, in Jacksonville, Arkansas, Chris was remembered as a warm-hearted man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He found happiness in the simple things, including camping, fishing, spending time with his dogs, cooking and preparing meals on his smoker.

Family was at the heart of Chris’s life, particularly his daughter, Shelby Lynn Schull, and her husband, Mike, and his beloved grandsons, Waylon and Wayde. His grandsons held a special place in his heart and were described as the center of his world.

Chris is survived by Shelby and Mike, along with Waylon and Wayde; his mother, Earline Sledge; siblings Mark, Craig and Connie; sisters-in-law Marci and Robin; brother-in-law Mike; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is also survived by his beloved partner and best friend of 29 years, Debra Parmer and her family. Together, they shared nearly three decades of love, companionship and memories.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Frank P. Sledge, who died in June 2025.

Those who knew Chris will remember his devotion to his family, his friendships, his work and the everyday experiences that brought him happiness. His generous spirit and affection for the people closest to him left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

After enduring a difficult battle with illness, Chris has now found peace. His family and friends will continue to carry his memory with them.

A Celebration of Chris’s Life is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at noon.
